In order to qualify for the playoffs of the ongoing IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have to get a win over defending champions Gujarat Titans when these two heavyweight teams clash against each other on Sunday, May 21 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Notably, RCB can still qualify if Mumbai Indians lose their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and if the Faf du Plessis-led team loses by five or lesser runs against GT or if rain plays spoilsport. However, the Faf du Plessis-led side will be desperate to eliminate all the ifs & buts and earn their direct qualification for the playoffs.
Notably, both du Plessis and Virat Kohli are in brilliant form at the moment and that will boost RCB’s confidence ahead of the match. The RCB skipper has hit 702 runs in 13 matches so far and with that, he is the current holder of the IPL 2023 Orange Cap while Virat has 538 runs to his name and courtesy of which, he is fifth in the race for the same.
When it comes to their bowling performance, Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell have done well in the recent matches but since the match will be played at the Chinnaswamy, bowlers are expected to not get much help from the surface and thus, it can once again be a tough evening for them.
When it comes to the Hardik Pandya-led side, its openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha have done well so far, especially with the former hitting a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last match. When it comes to the bowlers, Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan have been brilliant, to say the least, and thus, it’s expected to be a cracking game on Sunday.
Here’s the weather report of the match between RCB and GT
According to Accuweather, there’s a massive possibility of rain during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans. However, it may last only up to one hour. Thus, the game can get delayed for 90 minutes but it’s very likely to take place in some capacity. The wind is expected to gust at 30 km/hour while the cloud cover will be 56%.
When it comes to the conditions, the outfield will be really quick and thus, bowling first will be ideal. Another high-scoring encounter can be expected as the surface will offer very little help to the bowlers.
