The race to playoffs continues to heat up as RCB kept their winning momentum intact by bagging the fifth victory on the trot in IPL 2024. With 12 points in 13 games and a positive NRR, they still are in contention to make it to the next round. Speaking about the same, Tom Moody lauded RCB’s ability to deliver when it matters the most.

Speaking exclusively to Star Sports Cricket Live, former Australia cricketer Tom Moody shared his thoughts on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s performance last night, “Once again, RCB has demonstrated their ability to deliver when it counts, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling encounter between the two teams. It’s iconic for the entire IPL, truly. You’ve got two colossal names in cricket here in India and in world cricket—Dhoni and Kohli. They’re both dominant figures, leaving a huge legacy wherever they’ve been. And the interesting thing is anything can still happen on that table. After the weekend, I was assuming that a couple of results will sort of fall the way they should fall and then we’ll have a clear idea who’s going to end up in that top four. Yet, it’s still anyone’s game. Any team could clinch a spot in that coveted top four.”

Moody shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma’s camaraderie, “This is friendly fire. They’re very, very good friends. They’ve played a lot of cricket together for India. And Ishant is a gentle giant. Rayudu was telling me off-air how funny he is and how much he adds to a team environment. You can see the laughs between Virat and Ishant. And Ishant got the last laugh, that’s what any bowler would want. At the end of the day, you want to see the back of the batsman, particularly a batsman like Virat Kohli and of that calibre. Virat Kohli’s wicket is a prize wicket for anyone.”

Moody shared his thoughts on Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks’ partnership last night, “Well, it’s an excellent partnership in the context of the game. At first, we thought that the surface was going to provide a 200-plus score for the team batting first. But then the surface drastically slowed down. The ball started to turn. Despite these challenges, both Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks took the initiative in the first 10 overs and really took the game apart. Some terrific shots down the ground. Patidar, in particular, has been a revelation in the past five or six games, notching up several quick-fire half-centuries. His aggressive approach has consistently put pressure on the opposition’s bowling attack, making it incredibly challenging for them to get back into the contest.”
