Chennai Super Kings’ iconic skipper MS Dhoni is set to lead the four-time champions for the 200th time when his side takes on Rajasthan Royals in a highly anticipated fixture at the Cheapuk on Wednesday, April 12. The former Indian skipper, who has guided CSK to four IPL titles, is the first to do the feat in the cash-rich league. Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is hoping to mark the occasion with a win at their home ground.
Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of the IPL, having won four titles with the Yellow Army. Apart from the trophy haul, CSK has maintained incredible consistency under the tutelage of Dhoni. The talismanic skipper has captained an IPL team on 213 occasions, 199 for CSK and 14 for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant during IPL 2016.
His CSK teammate Ravindra Jadeja acknowledged his former national skipper as a ‘legend of Indian cricket’ and is hoping that the team can gift a win on the skipper’s incredible landmark in front of their loyal supporters in Chennai.
“What can I say, he is a legend of Indian cricket. so, I would like to wish him good luck. hopefully, in his 200th game, we will win in Chepauk and all the fans will be happy so that we continue the momentum. hopefully, we win tomorrow and we give him a gift on his 200th (IPL) match as captain,” Jadeja said to CSK’s official website ahead of the match.
We will come up with some plan tomorrow: Jadeja
CSK will be up against a high-flying Rajasthan Royals in their second home game of the season after they swatted aside arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in a one-sided contest in their own backyard. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson’s visiting team are currently second in the IPL points table, and Jadeja is wary of the threat they possess.
“Every team has firepower, so I think we need to understand where we can keep them quiet. We can have a particular plan for a particular batter. So, definitely we will come up with some plan tomorrow and bowl accordingly,” Jadeja added.
