With the mega auction fast approaching, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are amid a cluster of franchises which will be evaluating their potential skipper for the forthcoming Indian Premier League season. With Faf du Plessis, RCB’s now-former skipper, not being retained, the probability seems high for a change in captaincy. Former RCB player, Robin Uthappa, contributed to the same discussion.
Uthappa reasoned Rajat Patidar should be made the captain from this season onwards rather than waiting for the future, to give him enough time to hone his skills.
“I think they (RCB) should look at Rajat Patidar to take over that role because it seems like you need a new leader after two years. So, you might as well do it now to get ahead of the curve and build a captain for the next three to five years. Rajat is one of those players who can actually play that role for them,” shared Uthappa on JioCinema.
RCB can go back to Mohammed Siraj: Saba Karim
Former Indian cricketer, Saba Karim, had two players which RCB could re-associate themselves with. He justified why the franchise should look to bring pacer Mohammed Siraj and English all-rounder Will Jacks back into the setup.
“RCB can always go back to Siraj because he’s been phenomenal for the side. They got Yash Dayal as a left-arm seam bowler, which is a wonderful thing, but they also need someone to give him proper company. So, if RCB can have Siraj, then at least the pace-bowling section is kind of filled up. I’m also looking at Will Jacks. He was very good for them last season. He can come in right at the top, and he’s also a very useful right-arm off-break bowler,” noted Karim.
