Sarfaraz Khan became the 311th Test player to represent India and finally donned the national colours in the third Test of the ongoing five-match series against England in Rajkot. However, it was not just Sarfaraz who stole the spotlight, his father, Naushad Khan, made his debut in the commentary box and enjoyed a bit of limelight.

Sarfaraz Khan’s journey to the Indian cricket team has come after hard work of countless hours and dedication. His father, Naushad Khan, who also serves as his coach, has been an integral part of this journey. As Sarfaraz received his Test cap from Anil Kumble, emotions overflowed as Naushad, along with Sarfaraz’s wife, embraced the young cricketer, their tears reflected the magnitude of the moment.

Sarfaraz Khan’s father makes commentary debut

Naushad Khan made his commentary debut and offered a poetic response to his son’s delayed debut. Former Indian cricketer, who was present in the commentary panel asked Khan’s father, “Did you wait for too long to see Sarfaraz Khan making his debut?”

Naushad responded, “Raat ko waqt chahiye guzarne ke liye, lekin Suraj meri marzi se nahi nikalne wala it takes time for the night to pass, the sun is not going to rise according to my wish.”

Sarfaraz Khan’s selection was a culmination of his consistent performances in domestic cricket and for India A. Along with the 26-year-old cricketer, Dhruv Jurel was also handed over his debut cap.

Winning the toss in the third test, India choose to bat first, with skipper Rohit Sharma (87) playing a pivotal role in giving the host an upper hand in the Test match along with Ravindra Jadeja (54). India is currently batting on 165/3 and is looking to have a commanding position after the first day of play. While both Khan and Jurel are yet to take the field both will be very excited to come on to the field and perform for their national side.
