An odd win prediction occurred during the tense finish of Match 16 of the Pakistan Super League 2024 between the Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings in Karachi. The clash, held at the National Stadium in Karachi, witnessed a nail-biting finish that went against the conventional win predictions, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
Quetta Gladiators, chasing a target of 166 set by Karachi Kings, found themselves requiring three runs from the last two balls to secure their fourth victory of the season. The tension was palpable, and spectators braced themselves for an exhilarating conclusion and that’s when the Win Predictor popped up showing that Gladiators have a 101% chance of winning, while Karachi has -1%. The reading was highly irregular since a negative win chance is impossible in cricket.

Quetta Gladiators required 15 runs off the last over against Karachi Kings
Quetta were 151/5 going into the last over, needing 15 runs with Sherfane Rutherford on strike. Karachi’s Anwar Ali got hit for two continuous sixes in the first two balls and then came back strong in the next two deliveries by bowling back-to-back dot balls. That’s when the win predictor flashed up with the bizarre forecast just before the second last ball.
The drama continued as Rutherford was almost run out of the fifth ball going for a risky second. But he dived to make his ground and scramble the single needed off the final ball. Rutherford finished unbeaten on 58 off 31 balls and won the Man of the Match award for his performance.
