In a gripping conclusion to Pakistan Super League’s ninth season, Islamabad United clinched victory over Multan Sultans in a tense final at Karachi’s National Stadium. The match, which went down to the wire, saw Islamabad emerge triumphant by a narrow two-wicket margin.

However, the significance of Islamabad’s win transcended mere cricketing glory. In a touching display of solidarity, players such as Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and Hunain Shah were observed waving the Palestinian flag during their victory lap. This poignant gesture, amidst the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, underscored Islamabad United’s support for the Palestinian cause.

The final moments of the match were nothing short of exhilarating. With just one run required for victory, tailender Hunain Shah showcased nerves of steel, finding the gap at point and sealing the win with a boundary off the final delivery. The ensuing celebrations from the Islamabad camp were a testament to the team’s grit and determination.

This triumph not only secured Islamabad United’s third PSL title, cementing their status as the most successful team in the league’s history but also amplified their message of solidarity on a global scale.

Felt that the more time I had, could utilise it better with bat: Shadab

After the game, Shadab Khan shared his insights, mentioning that he believes he could utilise his batting time better if placed higher in the order and is working on his bowling technique. Shadab also appreciated the team owners’ support and emphasised the importance of winning the trophy.

“Felt that the more time I had, could utilise it better with bat. At number 6-7, I don’t have the power game. Have tried to fix my technical issues as a bowler. That’s a long process, and the improvements will come. Watching the match is tough for me. In the middle I don’t feel pressure, but watching it from outside is tough. I make life difficult for people next to me as well, so I don’t sit with batters who are supposed to walk in next. Special mention to the owners who have backed me. I was captain for five years and we didn’t reach final, but they backed me. Lot of things I feel that make this trophy very important for us,” Shadab was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
