There were certain reports over Jason Gillespie getting axed from his Head Coach position at the Pakistan men’s cricket team. It is worth noting that, Gillespie joined as the red-ball coach of Pakistan and later was also named as the white-ball coach after Gary Kirsten stepped down from the position.

It is worth noting that, under Gillespie, Pakistan were whitewashed at home by Bangladesh in two-match Test series. They came back stronger against touring England and won the series by 2-1. With the speculations over his removal were on rife, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come forward to clarify.

ESPNcricinfo had reported earlier on Sunday, November 17, claiming Aqib Javed’s appointment as all-format head coach of Pakistan senior men’s team. However, the PCB took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and has disregarded the story as fake.

The board also clarified that the former Australia cricketer will coach the Pakistan team in the upcoming two red-ball matches, scheduled against South Africa.

“PCB strongly refutes the story. As announced previously, Jason Gillespie will continue to coach the Pakistan side for the two red-ball matches against South Africa,” PCB wrote on ‘X’.
