Manu Bhaker was recently asked to pick one sportsperson she would want to spend a day with. The 22-year-old mentioned the names of legendary Indian cricketers – Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli for a day out.
Bhaker brought glory to India during the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian shooting sensation became the first athlete from the country to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics. She bagged a bronze in the women’s 10-metre air pistol event, becoming the first female Indian shooter to win a medal at the Olympics.
The talented shooter followed it up with another bronze medal in the mixed 10-metre air pistol team event alongside Sarabjot Singh. Apart from the troika of Tendulkar, Dhoni, and Kohli, Bhaker also mentioned legendary Jamaican runner Usain Bolt as another sportsperson she would love to spend a day with.
“Maybe I’ll name a few of my favourites. Usain Bolt [Jamaican runner] is one of them-I’ve read his book so many times and I’ve known his journey as wellâ€æI’ve watched so many of his interviews too. And then, in India, cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni sir [MS Dhoni], and Virat Kohli. It would be an honour to spend even an hour with any of them!,” Bhaker told Cosmopolitan.
Being a sportsperson, I would want to contribute a lot to sports in India: Bhaker
Speaking about her future aspirations, the Goria-born asserted that she would want to contribute as much as possible to improve sports in the country. Manu Bhaker also vowed to extend her support and share her knowledge with other athletes.
“Being a sportsperson, I would want to contribute a lot to sports in India and I would want to see India win as many medals as possible, Olympics or any other event. I would want to give all my support and share everything- my knowledge, my experience with upcoming athletes. I would love to do that,” Manu stated.

Bhaker is currently on a three-month break from shooting as she recuperates from an injury to her shooting hand. During her time off, the youngster is looking to resume her martials arts training and pursue other hobbies like horse riding, skating, and fitness. She also wishes to restart her Bharatnatyam training, which was hampered by her painstaking training in France.
