Veteran batter Paras Dogra will be competing for Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming domestic cricket season. He was named the captain of the side for the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, slated to be August 15 to September 11 in Chennai. Meanwhile, Shubham Khajuria has been named the side’s vice captain, with Shivansh Sharma being expected to fill in the role of wicketkeeper.
Aged 39, Dogra has been quite consistent in domestic cricket, being one of the best performers in first-class cricket. Having made his debut in 2001, Dogra has amassed 9604 runs in 135 first-class matches at an average of 49.76, including 31 centuries and 33 half-centuries.
He has been a part of the India ‘A’ squad when they played Tests against the West Indies ‘A’ in 2013 while he was also a part of his home state, Himachal Pradesh, from 2001 to 2017. He later represented Pondicherry, from 2018-19 to 2023-24.D

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir has been placed in Group D of the Buchi Babu tournament, alongside the likes of Chhattisgarh and Baroda. The team will play its first game against Chhattisgarh from August 15-18, followed by a clash against Baroda from August 21-24.
Speaking of the other sides in the competition, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Hyderabad have been placed in Group A; Railways, Gujarat, and TNCA President’s XI are in Group C while Mumbai and Haryana are in Group D.
The Buchi Babu tournament will prove to be crucial for the 12 sides in the preparation for the upcoming domestic season.
