Following the conclusion of the five-match T20I series, Pakistan will square off against New Zealand in as many ODI matches scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 27. The first two fixtures will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, whereas the National Bank Cricket Arena, in Karachi, will host the final three games of the series.

The two heavyweights have produced some exhilarating cricket in the T20Is as both sides were on level (2-2) terms after the five outings. Speaking of the two teams, the Kiwis bolstered the squad with the inclusion of Mark Chapman who joins on the back of his impressive performances (290 runs in five matches) in the T20I series.

In addition to this, Tom Blundell and Henry Nicholls will join the ODI squad whereas Dane Cleaver, who featured in the T20Is, will head back home. On the other hand, Shaheen Shah Afridi will mark his return to the ODI setup, as he last featured in June 2022 against West Indies and was confined to the sidelines owing to an injury.

Following an impressive stint in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Ihsanullah has been rewarded with a maiden ODI call. With the ODI World Cup to be played in October in India, the two sides will look to get their combinations right and obtain a ‘core’ team just in time for the mega event.

Speaking about their head-to-head records in the ODIs, team Pakistan have an edge over the BlackCaps with 56 wins in 110 meetings. New Zealand have emerged victorious in 50 matches with one game resulting in a tie and three yielding no result.
