Ace Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi is all set to make his very first appearance in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2024-25). The star pacer has been roped in by reigning champions Fortune Barishal. It is worth noting that the 11th edition of the BPL is scheduled to kick off on December 30.

The season opener will see Fortune Barishal and newcomers Durbar Rajshahi at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. It is worth noting that Shaheen Afridi was roped in as a direct signing, and the 24-year-old will be available for the opening five games of the competition as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) granted him a no-objection certificate till January 15.

“Pakistani left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi will play for Fortune Barishal in the upcoming BPL,” Fortune Barishal said in a statement.

Furthermore, some of the other direct signings of Fortune Barishal include Kyle Mayers, Dawid Malan, Mohammad Nabi, Faheem Ashraf, Ali Mohammad, and Jahandad Khan. The side will look to put in their best performance and successfully defend their title.

Speaking of Fortune Barishal, the side had put in an excellent performance in the previous edition of the BPL. Finishing the group stages in third place, Barishal went on to win the tournament after exceptional performances throughout the season.

The side won the Eliminator of the competition against Chattogram Challengers and went on to win the Qualifier 2 against Rangpur Riders and booked their berth in the BPL final. Furthermore, Barishal went on to defeat Comilla Victorians in the summit clash of the tournament to clinch the title.

Chasing down a target of 154 runs, Barishal put in an excellent performance and clinched the title and will hope for another good season in the upcoming campaign. It is worth noting that Barishal will kick off the new BPL season by taking on Durbar Rajshahi at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on December 30.
