Pakistan batter Mohammad Haris recently faced an embarrassing situation when he was forced to return to Pakistan from Dhaka airport after the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) refused to give him an NOC (No Objection Certificate) to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024.

The board denied him the chance to represent Chattogram Challengers in the BPL as he has already played in two franchised league tournaments since July 2023 and cannot compete in another according to the board’s policy.

It is worth noting that Haris took the risk of travelling to Bangladesh without the NOC, which was later denied, and the board also refused to pay for his ticket back to Pakistan from Bangladesh. Consequently, the BPL franchise Chattogram Challengers paid for his ticket back to Pakistan as a professional courtesy.

Chattogram Challengers look to improve in upcoming games

Talking of Chattogram Challengers, the side has played two games in the BPL 2024 so far, where they have won one and lost another clash. Sitting in fourth place with two points in two matches, the side will look for more wins in their upcoming games and will look to further scale the points table.

The side won their first game of the tournament against Sylhet Strikers but faced a defeat against Khulna Tigers. Both sides faced off in game 4 of the tournament, with Challengers batting first after losing the toss. The side’s top-order failed to make an impact in the game as Shohidul Islam was the highest run-getter with 40 runs to his name in the first innings as Challengers posted a total of 121 runs on the board.

Tigers chased the target with relative ease, winning the game by four wickets and handing Challengers their first loss of the season. For their next clash, Chattogram Challengers will take on Durdanto Dhaka at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Monday, January 22. The side will hope for an improved performance against Dhaka and their second win of the season.
