Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim retires from international cricket

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket. Imad played 130 white-ball games (55 ODIs and 75 T20Is) for Pakistan.

He took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express gratitude for representing the Men in Green and thanked his supporters for the relentless backing through both good times and bad. In conclusion, he shared that he will still be associated with cricket through the domestic and franchise circuits.

“To all fans & supporters: After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from international cricket. Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable,” Imad’s post read. “While this chapter comes to an end, I look forward to continuing my journey in cricket through domestic and franchise cricket, and I hope to keep entertaining you all in new ways.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time the southpaw has taken retirement from the international arena. In November 2023, Imad had announced retirement in a bid to pursue franchise-based leagues. However, on March 23, 2024, he reversed that decision to participate in the men’s T20 World Cup in 2024. He did not have a memorable time as his tournament figures read 11-0-44-3 while he scored 19 runs in two innings. Meanwhile, Pakistan failed to go past the group stage after a shocking loss to the USA.

Imad’s most recent assignment was with Morrisville Samp Army at the Abu Dhabi T10. With plenty of T20 experience under his belt, Imad would hope to carry his legacy forward in the world of league-based cricket.
