Pakistan is all set to take on the West Indies in a two-game Test series. Both sides will lock horns from January 17 at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Furthermore, the second Test of the series will be held in Multan as well from January 25. Ahead of the important series, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came forward and made the strategic plan to appoint a new spin bowling coach.

Former Test cricketer Abdur Rehman will be joining the coaching staff ahead of the two-Test series. It is worth noting that Rehman has had previous experience in coaching, but this will be his first job at the national level.

It is interesting to note that the pitch in Multan is known for assisting the spinners, and Rehman’s expertise in the department could prove to be useful for the hosts in the upcoming series. Furthermore, the job will not be easy for Rehman at all, considering Pakistan’s form in the longest format as of late.

However, playing at home could prove to be an advantage for Pakistan, and they will be hoping to make quick work of the Caribbean side in Multan.

Shortly after the series against the West Indies, Pakistan will gear up for the latest edition of the Champions Trophy 2025. Hosting the tournament with the UAE, the Men in Green will look to put in their best performance in the marquee event.

It is worth noting that Pakistan will kick off the tournament, playing the 1st game of the competition against New Zealand. Both sides will lock horns at the National Stadium, Karachi on February 19. After subpar performances in the ODI World Cup 2023, T20 World Cup 2024, and in the longest format, Pakistan have had a forgettable couple of months. However, they will hope to redeem themselves with the Champions Trophy.
