PAK vs ENG 2024: Abrar Ahmed hospitalized after falling ill during Multan Test

Pakistan leg-spinner, Abrar Ahmed, who bowled 31 out of his 35 overs on a grueling Day 3 for Pakistan, did not take the field along with the side on Thursday. An official statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that he had gone through a number of tests and that a further notification would be put out once the side received the results.

Abrar voiced grievances about having developed a high fever and an aching body on the morning of the fourth day’s play, as per a report from ESPNcricinfo.

Shan Masood-led Pakistan had named Noman Ali and Zahid Mahmood in their squad for the ongoing Test but released them ahead of the commencement of the fixture.

Abrar had a Test to forget as he was the only frontline bowler to go wicketless in England’s first innings which lasted a total of 150 overs post which they declared on a mammoth 823/7 after the duo of Joe Root and Harry Brook broke all kinds of records during their time in the middle.

Abrar, who came to the forefront with his splendid debut which saw him seize 11 wickets in the game against the same opposition at the very venue in 2022, was largely ineffective on a docile track this time around. For the bulk of the latter half of the third day, he was compelled to bowl a negative line outside the leg stump to regulate the flow of runs.
