PAK vs BAN: Abrar Ahmed drops gloves while running to the middle in haste, Shakib Al Hasan's reaction goes viral

A comical incident ensued at the beginning of the 38th over of the second innings of Pakistan on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh.

Pakistan, who were placed on 135/6 at the end of the 36th over were seeming to be placed in a comfortable position with Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha occupying the crease for a long time, both of them looking well-settled in the middle. However, it was against the run of play that the hosts lost a couple of wickets which saw Mohammad Ali depart for a first-baller after Rizwan nicked a length ball behind.

Abrar Ahmed, who was in all probability not expecting a couple of wickets to fall in quick succession, was seen hurrying onto the field with him putting on his helmet while jogging his way into the ground. He dropped one of his batting gloves while adjusting his helmet on his head, which had the commentators chuckle away at the hilarious situation. Shakib, who was at the top of his mark, didn’t hold back as well. Abrar, who was on the non-striker’s end, was signalled in a joking fashion by Shakib that he would’ve appealed for Abrar to get timed out had he delayed his arrival in the middle by even a bit.

Interestingly, Shakib was referring to the notorious incident which materialized in the 50-over World Cup last year when his appeal to consider Sri Lankan skipper, Angelo Mathews, as timed out during a group-stage game went in the favour of the Tigers. It was an episode that became a focal point of chatter during the tournament, with differing viewpoints on the same.
