In the opening game of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, pacer Akash Deep played a vital knock of 43 runs off 42 deliveries. The game was slowly getting out of India A’s reach, especially after KL Rahul’s dismissal, but Akash launched a counter-attack hoping to get closer to the target. He smashed three boundaries and four maximums during his stay at the crease and later posted a few photos and videos of his innings on Instagram.
In one of the videos, he was seen hitting Mukesh Kumar for a boundary. He timed that well and hit it over mid-on for a boundary. Interestingly, Mukesh who had dismissed Akash in the first innings of the game, reacted to the video and trolled the India A cricketer by asking him to upload the video of his dismissal.
“Bhai out wali v dal de yar,” Mukesh commented on his Bengal teammate’s post.
Besides, the seasoned pacer Navdeep Saini, who was bowling in tandem with Mukesh in the game also commented on Akash’s post, stating that they have also prepared a video for the pacer. However, he also congratulated Akash for his brilliant all-round skill in the match.
“Teri video bhi tyaar h bhai BTW. Well played,” Saini wrote.

Akash has been called up for the Bangladesh series
Akash picked up four-for in the first innings against India A and a five-for in the second. Courtesy of the same, the 27-year-old earned a call-up for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. He has already joined the camp in Chennai but it’s still unclear if the cricketer will be playing the first Test in MA Chidambaram Stadium as the team management will prefer Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj over him.

Notably, Akash made his Test debut against England earlier in the year. Bumrah decided to manage his workload and took a break from the fourth Test in Ranchi, which opened the door for Akash. He picked up a three-for in the first innings but wasn’t handed the ball in the second and also didn’t feature in the fifth Test in Dharamshala.
