India wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan created history by being the 4th Indian batter to score a double hundred in One Day Internationals after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma against Bangladesh in 2022. This was a great day for the flamboyant southpaw who showed why he was one of the emerging talents in Indian cricket.

The story of scoring 200s in ODIs started in Indian cricket, where the first batter to achieve the feat was Sachin Tendulkar. What was first considered an impossible feat back in the day has become a reality with 10 batters achieving this milestone in the format which includes 5 Indian batters as well. We all know that it is Rohit Sharma who has gone on to score the most double-hundreds with 3 to his name some more young players joined this list as well.

Ishan Kishan is one of the young and upcoming players known for his fearless approach, especially in the whiteball format. The 26-year-old southpaw has played 27 ODIs for India scoring 933 runs at an average of 42.40 and also played one of the best innings in ODI cricket against Bangladesh at Chattogram where he scored 210 in just 131 deliveries striking at above 160 and becoming only the 4th Indian batter to score a double hundred in the 50-over format.

Kishan ends disappointing series on high

The Men in Blue were playing a 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh and had faced two big and disappointing losses against them and losing the series. The third ODI at Chattogram was a chance for India to escape a whitewash and end the series on a good note. This is where Kishan’s double hundred played a huge role where he opened the batting and started to attack the Bangladeshi bowlers from ball one and take the game away from the hosts.

Kishan formed an incredible partnership with Virat Kohli during this match and made sure they reached a huge score of 409 in the end which proved to be too much for Bangladesh as they were bowled out for 182.
