Alyssa Healy extolled Rohit Sharma for his breathtaking innings against Australia earlier this week in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Indian captain went berserk against the famed Aussie bowling lineup and set up a 24-run win for the Men in Blue, which took them to the semi-finals.
Rohit got his T20 World Cup 2024 campaign off to a glorious start as he dazzled his way to a half-century against Ireland. However, he had a dry patch in the following games, registering scores of 13, 3, 8, and 23. With his opening partner Virat Kohli already struggling for runs, it was important for the Mumbai batter to regain his mojo ahead of the semifinals. Unfortunately for Australia, they met India on a day when Rohit was at his fluent best, dispatching even the good balls for boundaries. The 37-year-old eventually finished on 92 off just 41 balls, amassing seven fours and eight sixes to orchestrate a 24-run win for the inaugural champions.

Healy, who is the captain of the Australian women’s team and married to Mitchell Starc, heaped praise on Rohit for his stellar innings and opined that he is very difficult to stop when he is in full flow.
“I really enjoy watching Rohit Sharma bat; he is one of the cleanest hitters. Once he settles in, it’s incredibly difficult to halt his momentum. He is such a skilled player against short deliveries and made an incredible start for India,” Healy said while speaking on the LiSTNR Sport podcast.
Australia got done by Rohit Sharma: Brad Haddin
Former Australian wicketkeeper-batter, Brad Haddin, who was also present on the podcast, said that Rohit’s exhilarating knock in the must-win game was the difference between the two sides.
“I think they [Australia] got done by Rohit Sharma. I thought that knock in a must-win game like that was outstanding. The way he took on the first six overs was just brutal. He went after the Australian bowlers, he showed real intent, and the rest of his team followed. Australia got themselves back into the game, Travis Head was playing well. But in the end, it was just a brutal attack by Rohit Sharma,” Haddin stated.

India qualified for the semifinals by virtue of that result and will now face defending champions England in the second semi-final at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.
