India and New Zealand are geared up to face off against each other in the highly-anticipated semi-final of the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The all-important clash is scheduled to be contested on November 15, Wednesday, at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where India clinched their second ODI World Cup title with a six-wicket over Sri Lanka in 2011.
The Rahul Dravid-coached side have had a dream run in the ongoing competition with a record of winning all nine games in the group stage. The Men in Blue have finished on top of the ODI World Cup point standings with a total of 18 points. The Kiwis, on the other hand, are in fourth place with five wins and four defeats.
India will seek redemption against the Black Caps in the forthcoming clash as it is the rematch of the semi-final of the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The team then led by Virat Kohli, were chasing a below-par 240 on the reserve day of the rain-marred semi-final at Old Trafford in Manchester. Despite magnificent half-centuries from MS Dhoni (50) and Ravindra Jadeja (77) down the order, India failed to cross the line, suffering a heart-wrenching 18-run defeat. Meanwhile, India broke their 20-year jinx against New Zealand in an ICC event, outplaying the Kiwis by four wickets in the group-stage clash contested in Dharamshala.
