Mahmudullah played a late cameo, scoring 41 runs in 49 balls, helping Bangladesh post a total of 245/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Lockie Ferguson claimed 3 wickets, while Boult and Matt Henry secured two each.

In response, New Zealand lost Rachin early, with Mustafizur claiming the first wicket. Devon Conway, before his dismissal, accumulated 45 runs from 59 balls, with Shakib taking the crucial wicket. Kane Williamson played a crucial role, scoring 78 runs from 107 balls, although he retired hurt later. In the final stretch, Daryl Mitchell’s power-hitting came to the fore as he contributed 89 runs from 67 balls, ensuring New Zealand’s convincing 8-wicket victory. With this win, New Zealand registered their third consecutive victory in the World Cup 2023.
