The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai witnessed a fine century from Daryl Mitchell during the ODI World Cup semi-final clash between India and New Zealand on Wednesday, November 15.
In testing conditions, Mitchell battled cramps to score a 119-ball 134 and kept New Zealand in the hunt during their chase of 398. The Kiwis eventually fell short by 70 runs but the right-handed batter received adulation for his gritty innings. During his knock, Mitchell was assisted at one point by Ishan Kishan, who stepped out onto the field as the 12th man. The wicketkeeper-batter tried to comfort the New Zealander when he was experiencing cramps in his leg.
Mitchell didn’t forget Kishan’s kind gesture and show of sportsmanship as he shared a story on his official Instagram handle and thanked the 25-year-old.
