The 2023 Indian Premier League was clinched by the Chennai Super Kings a few weeks ago following an exciting final encounter against the Gujarat Titans. The CSK trounced Hardik Pandya’s squad by five wickets in a long final game that witnessed rain interruptions. The original final day was washed out and it moved the contest to a spare day. Following the initial innings, the clash again got interrupted by rain, putting up a reduced score for the  Chennai Super Kings in a 15-over game. In the end, as the game reached day three, Ravindra Jadeja struck the game-winning boundary to take CSK home for the fifth time in the history of IPL.

Interestingly, CSK opener Devon Conway fired up the situation with his great knock at the start of the run-chase. Conway smashed 47 off just 25 balls while chasing 171 to claim the game, striking 4 fours and 2 sixes. He was named as the player of the match following the final. In a recent interview with ESPNCricinfo, Conway opened up on how he felt after being adjudged the “Player of the Match” in the final.

Conway also hailed Sai Sudharsan, a batter who played too well for the Gujarat Titans He feels Sudharsan produced an excellent effort that made a big impact on the team’s achievement. “Oh, yeah. For sure. I thought Sai Sudharsan played an unbelievable knock. Jaddu himself had an incredible game with bat and ball. Ambati Rayudu’s cameo didn’t seem like much but it was certainly game-changing. So yeah, I was surprised, but at the end of the day, I don’t worry about winning or missing out on individual awards. Winning trophies together as a group is what I dream of,” Conway said.

I probably said it without realizing what I meant: Conway

He further explored his slip-up(oops moment) when he referred to this triumph as the biggest victory of his entire career. He pointed out that New Zealand admirers mocked him for ranking this success above the WTC final win. “It was about 3.30 am in the morning. We were going through so many emotions, and I probably said it without realizing what I meant. Of course, winning the WTC final was unbelievable and truly a highlight, but certainly, this win was also very much up there with what I’ve achieved so far. A few [New Zealand] lads kept bantering with me for a few hours after that, but it was all good,” he added.
