Indian Pacer, Mohammed Shami is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, completing his rehabilitation process after undergoing an ankle operation. Shami played his last game for India in the World Cup 2023 finals against Australia on November 19 last year. On August 28, Shami shared a video of him indulging in the recuperation process and training at the NCA.

For the unversed, the Uttar Pradesh pacer underwent Achilles tendon surgery at the start of 2024 in England. He subsequently missed the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL) for Gujarat Titans and T20 World Cup 2024. He is reported to make a comeback in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh in September. However, the right-arm pacer had wished to play domestic cricket before joining the national team.

“If you’re brave enough to fail and try again, nothing is beyond your reach,” Shami captioned the post.

Moreover, the BCCI announced the four teams for the impending red ball tournament, the Duleep Trophy, in preparation for the packed Test schedule. The board emphasised players to play domestic cricket and prove match fitness and performance. Shami missed the roster and Jay Shah had quipped that the team needs the veteran for the crucial Australia tour at fag end of the year.

“Your question about Shami is right, but I cannot give you any answer on Mayank Yadav as there is no guarantee whether he will be in the team or no. But he is potentially a good fast bowler, and we are looking after him. He is currently in the NCA. Shami will be there because he is experienced, and we need him in Australia,” said Shah.
