Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s declining form in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has led to widespread debates in the cricket fraternity. A number of former cricketers and experts have weighed in on the matter as the two stalwarts have been underwhelming in the three Tests of the marquee series so far.

Amidst this, a recent social media post claimed that former India captain Anil Kumble criticised the senior duo for their performance in the third Test in Brisbane. Kumble, however, has denied the same, stating the the quotes attributed to him are false and fabricated. He also urged for caution and vigilance in the times of misinformation.

“It has come to my attention that some social media accounts are using my image and attributing fabricated quotes to me. I want to categorically deny any association with these accounts and their content. The statements being circulated are not my views and do not reflect my opinions in any way. I urge everyone to be vigilant and not believe everything they see on social media. Please verify the authenticity of any information before sharing it. My official social media channels are the only reliable source for my views and statements. Sincerely, Anil Kumble,” Kumble tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of the Brisbane Test, India ended the fourth day of the third Test at 252/9, with Jasprit Bumrah (10* from 27) and Akash Deep (27* off 31) forming an important partnership for the 10th wicket to help the visitors avoid a follow-on and give the team a sliver of hope to draw the game.
