Not concerned about Mitchell Marsh’s fitness; he might bowl in Adelaide: Nathan Lyon
There is a mystery around Mitchell Marsh’s bowling fitness ahead of the second Test against India in Adelaide, slated to begin on December 6. After the first game in Perth, Cricket Australia added uncapped Beau Webster to the squad as Marsh wasn’t fit and was expected to miss the second Test. However, he recovered and batted well in the nets and has now confirmed his place in the playing XI.
Marsh, however, did not bowl in the nets. Star spinner Nathan Lyon is not concerned about Marsh’s bowling fitness and reckoned that he might bowl in Adelaide. He added that since Marsh’s comeback, he has been a key part of the team and the management wants to give him full confidence in the unit as the fourth seamer.

“I honestly think we’ll see Mitch Marsh bowl. I’m not concerned about Bison’s fitness if I’m being honest. He’s been brilliant for us since he’s come back in. He came back in that game in Leeds during the Ashes and has really dominated, so got full confidence in Bison. Happy to bowl his overs,” Lyon said in the press conference.
Adelaide probably has the best cricket wicket in the world: Lyon
Lyon did not have enough support from the pitch in Perth but expects the conditions to slightly favour the spinners in Adelaide, calling the venue as the ‘best cricket wicket in the world’. He expects strong competition between batters and bowlers as well.
“I think it’s a great, great venue to play spinner. And I think what Damien (head curator) does here is he produces a great wicket that got enough in it, and it’s challenging for both bat and ball. If you are good enough with the bat, your score runs. If you good enough for the ball, you’ll hopefully create a few chances along your way. This is probably the best cricket wicket in the world, if I’m being honest with you. So I’m expecting it to be pretty helpful to spin bowling as well,” Lyon added.
