Young India cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy who made his Test debut in the high-octane clash against Australia at Perth scored an important 41 runs off 59 balls in the first innings of Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His knock along with KL Rahul (26) and Rishabh Pant (37) aided India to put up 150 on board against Australia.
He also reflected on his first Test knock at Perth and shared thoughts and his experience on playing under India’s stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah.
“It was a good start. It’s not a dream innings but it was a good start,” said Reddy. Reddy also praised Bumrah who is currently leading the side in place of Rohit Sharma, appreciated the strategic decisions made during the game.
“He’s very good. It was my first time playing under Bumrah’s captaincy. It’s pretty hard to mention about his captaincy, but as of now he’s been very good with the change of overs and everything, change of spells. I saw he’s very good,” Reddy was quoted as saying.

“Best thing I have heard from Gautam sir” – Nitish on Gambhir’s advice
The youngster also highlighted the advice he recieved from India head coach Gautam Gambhir which instantly gave him a morale boost during tough times on field.
“I had a chat with Gautam Gambhir sir. he was mentioning when you get any bouncers or sharp spells, just take them onto your shoulders, feel like you are taking a bullet for the country. That really helped a lot. It just boosted me up. That’s the best thing I have heard from Gautam sir,” Nitish Kumar Reddy said.
Coming to the match, India after getting dismissed for 150, are currently dominating Australia as on Day 1 stumps, the hosts stand on 67 for 7 wickets with India leading by 83 runs.
