Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder, Nitish Kumar Reddy has every reason to smile as he has become the most expensive player in the Andhra Premier League. He was picked by Godavari Titans for a lump sum of 15.6 lakh rupees. Nitish’s exploits in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 have found a byproduct as the Andhra Premier League braces itself for the youngster to grace the stage. 

As the APL auctions were underway, Nitish who was watching the proceedings from his hotel room was ecstatic. His joy was palpable in the video uploaded by his IPL franchise SRH on social media. The right-handed batter had a forgettable outing in the IPL 2023. However, he was retained by SRH ahead of IPL 2024 for the base price of 20 Lakh rupees.

Nitish Reddy creating waves with his sheer presence in crunch games

The 20-year-old has had a splendid domestic outing as he pocketed a fifer in his second first-class match against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. As a batter who is perceived as lethal, He has opened the batting for Andhra. He has also represented India Green as an opener in the Under-19 Challenger Trophy during the 2018-19 season. He had also scored a brilliant half-century in his List-A debut match.

Talking about his IPL 2024 outings, he has scored 239 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 152.22.  His average of 47.80 stands out given his vulnerable batting position. He has smashed 17 sixes and 12 fours, keeping with SRH batters’ tradition this season. He is athletic in the field as evidenced by his recent antics against Lucknow Super Giants where he saved a maximum at the boundary rope.
