The final game of the three-match Test series between New Zealand and England is scheduled to commence at Seddon Park in Hamilton on December 14, 2024.
The two games that have gone by have been nothing short of total annihilation for the hosts. After their shock 0-3 whitewashing of India, New Zealand were in with a solid chance to secure a berth in the 2023-25 cycle of the World Test Championship. However, they were severely disappointed. The regular uncharacteristic dropping of catches and not capitalising on the weak phases in which the opposition has found itself has hurt them big time.
As for England, it would be a case of them wanting to end their 2024 on a high. This particular year has been quite erratic for the visitors in the red-ball format. They would be gunning to spoil Tim Southee’s farewell game and clinch a clean sweep over the Kiwis. If they manage to pull off a victory in Hamilton, it would be only the third instance of the Black Caps to have gone down in each match of a three-match Test series after 1963 and 2000.
