India women captain Harmanpreet Kaur made headlines for her behaviour during the third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday, July 22 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The Indian skipper first broke the stumps with her bat in disappointment after being adjudged out LBW and later mocked Bangladesh’s achievement by claiming that the umpires also had a role to play in the tied game. Notably, the series got drawn 1-1 after the third ODI ended in a tie.

Following the controversial incident, a new video of Harmanpreet’s questionable behaviour has emerged on social media, where she could be seen laughing as an advertisement board placed behind fell due to heavy wind.

According to reports, the Indian skipper could get four demerit points for her behaviour which can lead to her suspension from two international games. Hence, she could miss out from the first two matches in the upcoming women’s cricket event in the Asian Games 2023 to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 19.

Notably, India have already qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament based on their ICC rankings. Hence, Harmanpreet is in danger of missing out on both the quarterfinal and semi-final of the event and will only be able to play in the final, provided India qualifies for the same.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is yet to announce the sanctions on the Indian skipper however the governing body is expected to come down heavily on her.

Coming back to the India vs Bangladesh series, the Nigar Sultana-led side won the first ODI and registered their first-ever win against India in the 50-over format. India made a great comeback in the second ODI, winning the match by 108 runs. In the third game, both teams were tied on 225 which led to the trophy being shared between them.
