Former Australia cricketer Darren Lehmann has revealed what he thinks about his statue at the Adelaide Oval. Lehmann had casual conversation with some fans at the Adelaide Oval on the sidelines of the second Test between Australia and India of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and was asked about his statue at the venue.
Lehmann jokingly opined that they did not spend enough money on the structure as he is a little slimmer than he likes, adding that the statue should be “a little fatter”.
“Not bad. A bit slimming isn’t that one? They didn’t spend enough money, did they? The only thing I’ve got with it is… I think it should be a little fatter.. They should have spent some more money on it. But the likeness was great. It was unbelievable how they did it. Obviously it was a great honour as a South Australian. Not only for me but my family, the career I had. I love the place dearly and thought I’m fortunate enough they granted this to me. And it’s good fun,” Lehmann told ABC.
