Mumbai announce squad for Irani Cup 2024/25, Ajinkya Rahane to lead

In a major development, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced their squad for the upcoming Irani Cup. After the conclusion of the Duleep Trophy, the country is set for the Irani Cup. The one-off five-day game will be played between the current Ranji champions, Mumbai, and the Rest of India from October 1 to October 5 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.

Ahead of the clash, MCA came forward and announced their squad for the game. It is worth noting that veteran India batter Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the side in the game.

Furthermore, the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, and many more stars will feature for Mumbai in the game. Ranji winners Mumbai will be taking on the Rest of India squad picked by the BCCI.

Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead the Rest of India against Mumbai

Furthermore, like Mumbai, the Rest of India squad was announced as well. Star India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the side against Mumbai and will hope to put in a good showing against the Ranji winners.

Apart from Gaikwad, many stars will feature for the rest of India. Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Ishan Kishan, and Yash Dayal, to name a few. Many eyes will be set upon the return of Ishan Kishan to red-ball cricket. It is interesting to note that Ishan Kishan was left out of a national contract by the BCCI after he refused to play red-ball cricket.

Ajinkya Rahane (c), Prithvi Shaw, Ayush Mhatre, Musheer Khan, Shreyas Iyer, Siddhesh Lad, Suryansh Shedge, Hardik Tamore (wk), Sidhaant Addhatrao (wk), Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Himanshu Singh, Shardul Thakur, Mohit Avasthi, Mohammad Junaid Khan, and Royston Dias.

Rest of India squad:

Ruturaj Gaikwad (capt), Abhimanyu Easwaran (vice-capt), B Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel (wk)*, Ishan Kishan (wk), Manav Suthar, Saransh Jain, Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal*, Ricky Bhui, Shashwat Rawat, Khaleel Ahmed, and Rahul Chahar.
