MS Dhoni hoists Indian flag at his Ranchi farmhouse on 77th Independence Day

India is celebrating her 77th Independence Day on Tuesday, August 15. The cricket fraternity has shown their love for the nation and former India captain MS Dhoni is also celebrating the day in a special way. The talismanic wicketkeeper-batter has brought several commendable laurels for the country in his illustrious career, which includes two World Cups and one Champions Trophy.

The 42-year-old is currently enjoying his free time in his farmhouse in Ranchi. A fan posted a clip on social media where an Indian flag is seen hoisted at the stalwart’s farmhouse. The clip became viral in no time as fans loved Dhoni’s way of showing his love for the nation on the auspicious day. With this gesture, the five-time Indian Premier League-winning captain showed his support for the central government’s ‘HarGharTiranga’ campaign.

For the unversed, Dhoni holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army and has also received prestigious sports honours like Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award and Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, among others. Interestingly, the legendary cricketer announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, through an Instagram post.

MS Dhoni had his best IPL season in terms of strike rate

MS Dhoni‘s batting numbers in the IPL dropped gradually in recent years but in 2023, he showed glimpses of the vintage swashbuckling batter, who enthralled fans during his early days with some destructive knocks. The former World No. 1 ODI batter faced just 57 balls in IPL 2023 but scored 104 runs at a strike rate of 182.46.

This was Dhoni’s highest strike rate in a particular season of the cash-rich tournament. His previous best strike rate for a particular season was 162.89 in the 2013 edition of the IPL. The experienced campaigner said after winning IPL 2023 that he will be trying to play the 2024 edition as well. Fans will be hoping to see their favourite player return to the field for another season in the 10-team league.
