Indian Premier League 2023 concluded on May 29 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) being crowned the champions after beating Gujarat Titans (GT) off the very last ball of the summit clash in Ahmedabad. Ravindra Jadeja scored the winning runs for CSK when he hit Mohit Sharma for a boundary when four runs were needed off the last ball.
By virtue of the nerve-jangling win, MS Dhoni’s men equaled Mumbai Indians with five IPL titles in their trophy cabinet. Batting first, defending champions GT posted 214/4 in 20 overs. However, due to frequent rain interruptions, the match was reduced to 15 overs and CSK needed 171 to win. They achieved the target with five wickets to spare.
As June 30 marks exact one month of CSK’s historic win, the team posted a video on their social media handles, where heartwarming moments from the pulsating final were seen. The video begins with the CSK players, including the legendary MS Dhoni, watching the tense closing moments of the match, from their dugout.
The euphoric celebrations have been captured perfectly post Jadeja’s winning hit. The wholesome Ravindra Jadeja-MS Dhoni hug is one of the standout moments in the video. That is not the only heartwarming hug present in the video, as the one involving MS Dhoni and his apprentice Hardik Pandya also makes for great viewing.
The video ends with the sight of the winning captain waving to the fans at the stadium to acknowledge their never-ending support for him and his team.
Moments that made the night special in #Yellove!

When MS Dhoni spilled beans on his plans for IPL 2024
At the post-match presentation, Harsha Bhogle asked MS Dhoni if he would be seen in action at next year’s IPL. The star wicketkeeper-batter, who played the season with a knee injury, said that he will try his best to stay fit and ready to play IPL 2024 as he felt it would be a nice gift to his fans for their relentless support.
“Circumstantially, if you see, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I have been shown wherever I have been this year, the easy thing would be for me to say ‘Thank you very much’, but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL,” Dhoni had told Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation.
Dhoni underwent successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai earlier this month.
