Mohammad Hafeez became the latest former cricketer to join the bandwagon and accuse the Pakistan Cricket Board and its policy after an underwhelming performance against India in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Chasing 120 runs, the Babar Azam-led side was in the contest for the majority part of the time but in the last six overs, things got complicated as they eventually suffered a six-run loss. With that, Pakistan remain in a tight spot as they are on the verge of missing out on the Super 8.

After the defeat, Hafeez claimed that PCB had made deals with Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, which brought them back from retirement. He accused the governing body of not promoting the players who do well in domestic cricket and added that since there’s no franchise cricket going on around the world, Imad and Amir made themselves available for selection.

“They brought them here out of greed, made deals with such players who have ruined Pakistan’s cricket. I was in the domestic circuit, but no one wants to play domestic cricket. It’s because they were telling me, ‘Hafeez bhai, if any of us gets selected, we will take it. How can it be that players who don’t even play Pakistan’s domestic cricket get selected?’” Hafeez said in a viral video.

Here’s the video –

“When asked six months ago to play for Pakistan, they said they wanted to play in leagues. Now that there are no leagues happening these days, they are playing in the World Cup. They are playing in the World Cup as if it is just another league,” he added.

With two back-to-back losses, Pakistan are currently fourth on the points table in Group A. They will face Canada on June 11 and Ireland on June 16 and they need to win both matches by a heavy margin. To make it to the Super 8, the Men in Green also needs USA to lose their remaining two matches against India and Ireland.
