‘Might be my favorite one so far’ – Harry Brook on Wellington ton (Source – Getty Images)
England were in trouble after being reduced to 26/3 in the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington when Harry Brook marched to the crease. Despite the team being in a tough situation, Brook did not compromise on his approach and played aggressively, scoring 123 off just 115 to turn his team’s fortune. He stitched a partnership of 174 runs alongside Ollie Pope as England posted 280 runs in the first innings.
After the game, Brook termed the knock as his “favorite hundred so far”. Brook noted that it was seaming and swinging well and he was happy to play his natural cricket.
“I think that might be my favorite hundred so far. I enjoyed that a lot. It was just the circumstances really, it was 26 for 3 when I came in and the pitch was doing quite a bit. It was seaming and swinging and I’m just glad I put my attacking mode on and really took it to them and put them under pressure,” Brook was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Earlier in the year, Brook made a triple century against Pakistan in Multan. Despite that, Brook picked the ton against New Zealand to be his best. Explaining that, the England international mentioned that the Multan surface was flat and the outfield was fast but in Wellington, the conditions were far more difficult.
“Obviously that pitch (Multan) was extremely flat. You could just lean on it and the outfield was so rapid it would go for four. Here in the situation of the game, the pitch, and the way I played…I felt like I was really putting them under a lot of pressure. It’s a pretty special feeling. Most of the balls came out of the middle of the bat. It feels good to be batting like that,” Brook added.
