Mayank Agarwal’s knock of 83 went in vain as a sensational batting show from Cameron Green (100*) and  Rohit Sharma (56) helped Mumbai Indians defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by a margin of eight wickets in Match 69 of the Indian Premier League 2023 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The toss belonged to the hosts, as Rohit Sharma & Co decided to field first. The ploy to open with Mayank Agarwal and Vivrant Sharma worked for SRH as the duo scripted the highest opening partnership for SRH in IPL 2023. MI bowlers literally had no answers to the exploits of the SRH openers as they put together 140 runs for the first wicket. Vivrant (69 0ff 47) rose to his maiden IPL half-century before getting dismissed by Akash Madhwal in the 14th over. Mayank Agarwal smashed 83 runs off 46 balls before becoming Akash’s second prey. His 83-run knock included eight fours and four sixes. Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, and Heinrich Klaasen lost their wickets in quick succession. A brief cameo from Aiden Markram (13* of 7) helped SRH post 200 in 20 overs

In response, Bhuvneshwar Kumar drew the first blood as Ishan Kishan departed for 14 runs in the third over. However, Rohit kept the scoreboard ticking, as he along with Cameron Green, added 128 runs for the second wicket. Mayank Dagar broke the good-looking partnership by picking Rohit for 56 runs. Green (100* off 47) rose to his maiden IPL century which included eight fours and eight maximums. A cameo from Suryakumar Yadav (25 off 16) helped Mumbai chase down 201 runs in 18 overs.
