There have been some entertaining cricket acti0on going on across venues in the ongoing IPL 2023. Having said that when it comes to playing at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, it comes as no surprise that a plethora of things happen on the field, both the good and bad sides of it. In the ongoing IPL 2023, during the clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. After fielding first MI successfully restricted the visitors to 199/6.
After losing two wickets early, RCB recovered courtesy of brilliant fifties from skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. At one stage, after 14 overs RCB were looking 145/4. In came Karthik and he took matters into his hand after du Plessis’ departure as Cameron Green got him caught in the short fine leg region. Just when the visitors needed to accelerate their run rate, Karthik showed his batting prowess and hitting skills. In the event so far his bat has remained silent but today the veteran keeper-batter came up good at the Wankhede. In the 18th over, he smashed Kartikeya for 15 runs to take his side past the 180-run mark.
Although, he was looking good with the bat the veteran batter looked pale and unwell while getting back to the pavilion post and getting dismissed to Chris Jordan. He was seen vomiting and that is why later on he did not come out to do the glovework for RCB. In totality, he got back into the much-needed form and scored a brisk 30 runs off 18 balls to bail his side from a below-par score at the venue. During his innings, Karthik smacked four boundaries and a six, respectively.
Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera throttled MI to victory against RCB
After Mumbai Indians started well with 41 runs on the board after four overs, skipper Faf du Plessis handed the ball to the experienced leg spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga. Just when MI were looking good to stitch a solid first-wicket stand, Hasaranga repaid his captain’s faith by dismissing the dangerous-looking Ishan Kishan. Shortly after, he handed a double blow in the form of Rohit Sharma who continued his poor form. Post that both Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera steadied the ship by taking time on the pitch before going berserk.
Especially, it has been the ‘Mr 360’ show by Yadav in the run chase so far as he smacked another fifty in the IPL 2023 in just 26 balls. Suryakumar Yadav scored a magnificent 83 off 35 balls with seven fours and six maximums. While Wadhera played a supporting role by ticking the scoreboard from the other end and completed his brilliant fifty to take MI home in 16.3 over despite Vijaykumar Vyshak striking twice in the fag end of the game by scalping Suryakumar Yadav and Tim David to give some hope to the visitors. But his effort went in vain as MI sealed the match by six wickets.
