The last time India played a Day-Night Test against Australia, the visitors were bundled for 36 runs in the second innings, resulting in a humiliating defeat. Ahead of the upcoming clash against Australia in Adelaide, India have been reminded multiple times about their embarrassing performance in the last time around but this time, the visitors are leading 1-0 in the series and the pressure is equally on the Pat Cummins-led side.

Several experts in recent times explained that adjusting to Pink Ball is a challenging task as the ball comes quick after hitting the surface. Speaking on the same, captain Rohit Sharma stated that the team is mentally strong and adaptation won’t be a problem for his team. He reminded that a few key players missed the opening Test in Perth but other players stepped up at the right time and got the job done. The 37-year-old expects the players to repeat the same heroics again and further their lead in the series.

“We are mentally strong and for us, adaptation is not a problem. For us, it is simple that we try to give our best in difficult situations. You will not get easy things at the highest level of cricket. Even in Perth, we did not have all of our players. Everybody kept their head down and played their part and the result was in our favour. We have to look at this Test match in the same way. If all XI play their role, the result might be in our favour,” Rohit said in the press conference.

Rohit also does not want to remember what happened in the past or India’s record in the Day-Night Test against Australia. He highlighted that every day is a fresh day and he’s looking for the next match and expects the players to approach with a different mindset.

“Since we started playing we were taught that every day is a fresh day, even if you’re betting on 90 or 99, you come to bat the next day, you start on zero. Fresh day brings fresh challenges, the bowlers come with a different mindset, the batters come with a different mindset. It’s a general messaging that we’ve been giving for so many years that what has happened, just focus on what lies ahead of us,” Rohit said.
