Bangladesh etched their name in the history books after they recently defeated Pakistan in a two-game Test series. Winning the first Test of the series by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh followed it up by winning the second Test of the series by six wickets.
The series win against Pakistan was Bangladesh’s first Test series win of two matches or more against a team other than Zimbabwe and the West Indies. Across the two matches, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the star of the show and won the Player of the Series award.
Miraz came forward and thanked Bangladesh’s management for his performances and dedicated his Player of the Series win to the victims of the ongoing protests in Bangladesh.
“So, definitely our most credit goes to our team management there; lots of support, and there are lots of hard workers. and I enjoy a lot you’re practicing in our country. (Team performance) Yeah, definitely. The guys are very, very happy about my performance. And they are very supportive of me, and I’m really happy, and this moment, I never forget that moment,” Miraz was quoted as saying by NDTV.
“This is the first time I have won the Player of the Series Award on an overseas tour. You all know that recently there’s been trouble in our country. I want to dedicate this Man of the Series Award to the people who were martyred during the anti-discrimination student protest. There was one rickshaw puller who was injured and later on died. I want to gift this award to them,” he added.
Bangladesh completely outclassed Pakistan across the two matches of the series. Whenever the hosts looked to be gaining control over the match, Bangladesh kept ruining the party for them and after two sensational performances, the side managed to register a historic win against Pakistan in their backyard.
