MCA President Amol Kale's mortal remains reaches his Mumbai residence

Amol Kale, the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), tragically passed away due to a cardiac arrest in New York on Monday, June 10. He was just 47 years old.

On Wednesday, Kale’s mortal remains were brought to his residence in Mumbai, leaving the cricket fraternity in a state of extreme sorrow. Kale was one of the attendees in the blockbuster India vs Pakistan clash in New York on June 9.

Cricketing luminaries, administrators, and well-wishers had gathered to pay their last respects to the departed leader. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule also paid their last respects.

Jay Shah was saddened by the sudden demise of Amol Kale

Kale had taken up the prestigious role of MCA president in 2022, defeating former Indian cricketer Sandeep Patil in a closely contested election. His tenure was marked by visionary initiatives aimed at promoting and uplifting Mumbai cricket.

Notably, he spearheaded a 100% pay raise for senior cricketers in Mumbai from the 2024-25 domestic season. Kale also introduced match fees for Mumbai players, a first-of-its-kind effort to encourage red-ball cricket.

“We are deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of our President, Shri. Amol Kale. On behalf of the Apex Council, Member Clubs, Staff members, and our entire MCA family, we offer our deepest condolences to his family. His visionary leadership and efforts will be remembered in our hearts forever,” the MCA said in a statement.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah shared similar sentiments and was deeply saddened by the news of Kale’s sudden demise.

“Deeply saddened to hear about the sudden demise of MCA President Amol Kale. His dedication to Mumbai cricket was exemplary. Deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time,” Shah wrote on X.
