India will tour Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 with the first Test commencing on November 22. Ahead of the impending series, Australia will potentially be without the services of their star all-rounder Cameron Green as he has been ruled out of the ODI series against England midway after being diagnosed with a stress fracture.
The reports suggests that the 25-year-old can either go for surgery or rehab to come out of the shortcomings. If the developments are to be believed, Green’s chances for the India series look slim. As Australia look to restructure their batting line-up, former captain Mark Taylor has endorsed Cameron Bancroft as the replacement for Green.

“It’s an awkward one isn’t it? Cam Green was out of the Australian side during the Ashes series of last year and Mitch Marsh came in but Australia were very keen to get him back in. I think Smith will move back to No.4. So the question is who will open? I’d love to see a right-handed opening batsman get the opportunity. And to me at the moment … I would have Bancroft penciled in alongside (Usman) Khawaja,” said Taylor as quoted by News18.
Usman Khawaja is not going to play that much longer either: Mark Taylor
Taylor also shed light on the potential replacement of Khawaja. The veteran, who will be playing against India in the upcoming series, is set to turn 38 this year. Taylor opined that the team will have to look for a new opener and he suggested that Marcus Harris or Matt Renshaw could replace the southpaw.

“He’s not going to play that much longer either so we’re going to need to find another opener so that’s when I’d then think about going back to a (Marcus) Harris or (Matt) Renshaw to replace the left-handed Khawaja so that’s what I’d be thinking at the moment. There’s some big Shield games coming up. NSW play Victoria in the next week or so, that’ll be a big game. If Sam Konstas is playing well I would not rule him out of playing the first Test match,” he added.
