Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja outfoxed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Marcus Stoinis and sent him packing for mere six off four balls in match 45 of IPL 2023 at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on May 3.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni made the right call at the toss and decided to field first on a slower wicket in Lucknow. The visiting team got three wickets in the powerplay as LSG could only manage a mere 31 runs.
Soon after the powerplay, skipper Dhoni handed the ball to Jadeja to get the breakthroughs and the move paid dividends as the star all-rounder sent Stoinis back to the pavilion in quick-time. On the fifth ball of the seventh over, Jadeja bowled a fullish ball, outside leg, getting decent flight and terrific turn as the ball came crashing into the off stump to send Stoinis packing.
The LSG all-rounder appeared stunned by the turn Jadeja got on the delivery and eventually headed back to the dugout for a paltry score of six runs off four balls as Jadeja claimed his first scalp.
Meanwhile, Maheesh Theekshana got two wickets on the trot as he dismissed Manan Vohra and stand-in skipper Krunal Pandya for 10 and zero, respectively to leave LSG in a precarious position.
Meanwhile, the home team endured a loss at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday, May 1 in a low-scoring contest. They are currently placed third on the IPL Points Table with five wins and 10 points. LSG will try hard to put their best foot forward after losing to CSK by 12 runs in the first meeting on April 3.
