LPL 2024 Schedule: LPL Schedule Date, Time, Fixtures, Teams, Venue details announced

Cricket fans across Sri Lanka are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, the country’s top domestic T20 tournament. Sri Lanka Cricket Board recently announced the fixtures of the fifth edition of this competition.

The 2024 LPL will be played across three venues, Colombo, Dambulla, and Kandy from July 1 to 21. A total of 24 matches will be contested, with 20 games in the league stage and four knockouts.

The five teams competing will each field a squad of 20-24 players, including a maximum of six overseas stars. Defending champions B Love Kandy will be aiming to retain their title, but they will face tough competition from the likes of Dambulla Aura, Colombo Strikers, Galle Titans, and Jaffna Kings.

The opening match on July 1 will be a rematch of last year’s final, as B Love Kandy takes on Dambulla Aura in Kandy. Before the opening game, the board also announced an opening ceremony for the grand T20 tournament. The league stage will then see each team face off against the others twice, with the top four sides progressing to the knockout round.

In the playoffs, the top two teams will compete in Qualifier 1, with the winner advancing directly to the final. The third and fourth-placed teams will battle it out in the Eliminator, with the victor taking on the Qualifier 1 loser in Qualifier 2 for the other final berth.

The 2024 LPL final is scheduled for July 21, with the winning team set to lift the coveted trophy and claim the title of Sri Lanka’s T20 champions. In addition to this, a reserve day is in place and the final will be played on Monday, July 22, if an unfortunate scenario arises.
