After a horrendous first innings, where the Indian team was bundled out for just 46 runs, they managed to put up a fight in the second innings against New Zealand in the first Test in Bengaluru.

The visitors were all over the hosts as they put forth 402 to take a humungous lead over India. In the second innings, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were back in the pavilion before India reached the 100-run mark. Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan staged a comeback but the former departed on the last delivery of Day 3 for 70.

India dominated the first half of Day 4 as Sarfaraz and Rishabh Pant scored 150 and 99 and added a mammoth 177 runs together to bring India back in the ga,e. However, New Zealand pulled back the strings with the new ball and wrapped up the hosts for 462, needing 107 runs to win the match.

The visitors will enter Day 5 with the same target as play was stopped due to rain just four balls after New Zealand began their chase. Rohit Sharma and Co. were seen having an intense chat with the umpires as the game was intially paused due to bad light. Eventually, the rain had the last laugh as covers were on and the game was called off for the day.

With such a low total to defend, all odds are against Indian team but there are few instances where the team has successfully defended the low totals in Tests.
