LLC 2024: Shikhar Dhawan steals spotlight with Kapil Dev’s ‘Natraj shot’

Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan took his fans down memory lane in the ongoing Legends League Cricket 2024. He drew comparisons to former India skipper Kapil Dev as Gujarat Greats faced off against the Southern Superstars. The clash between both sides began with Southern Superstars batting first and posting a total of 144 runs in the first innings. 

Kicking off the run chase, Shikhar Dhawan hit the Natraj Shot on the very last ball of the first over. The shot quickly went viral as Shikhar Dhawan continued his onslaught against Southern Superstars. 

He completed his half-century in just 37 deliveries and was dismissed after scoring 52 runs in 48 deliveries. However, despite Dhawan’s knock, Gujarat fell short of their target and eventually lost the game. 

Southern Superstars defeat Gujarat Greats by 26 runs

Speaking of the game between Southern Superstars and Gujarat Greats, the clash began with Superstars batting first. The side opened with Parthiv Patel and Martin Guptill scoring 4 and 22 runs, respectively. Masakadza added 20 runs on the board, with Dinesh Karthik and Chathuranga de Silvas scoring 18 and 53* runs, respectively. 

Super Stars posted a total of 144 runs in the first innings. As for Gujarat Greats, Manan Sharma was the highest wicket-taker for his side, with six wickets to his name. Plunkett and Prasanna took one wicket each as well. 

With a target of 145 runs to chase down, Gujarat Greats opened their innings with Morne van Wyk and Dhawan scoring 15 and 52 runs, respectively. However, after the openers, none of the other batters amounted to much. 

Lendl Simmons and Mohammad Kaif were dismissed for seven and five runs, respectively. Asghar Afghan added three runs on the board with Manan Sharma scoring 10 runs. Southern Super Stars put in an excellent performance with the ball to limit Gujarat. 

Pawan Negi was the highest wicket-taker for his side with three wickets to his name. Abdur Razzak took two wickets with Chathuranga de Silva and Kedar Jadhav striking once each as Super Stars won the game by 26 runs.
