While the BCCI named a strong squad for the upcoming World Test Championship final 2021-23, the chair of selectors’ position remains vacant ever since former chairman Chetan Sharma resigned. The BCCI appointed Shiv Sunder Das as the interim chairman, but no candidate has replaced Sharma in the permanent role.
Notably, Chetan Sharma stepped down from the role in February 2023, after a controversial sting operation by a private news channel revealed his comments on some of the players and the board. The 57-year-old in the video, was seen talking about BCCI’s work, his chat with head coach Rahul Dravid and his conversation with Virat Kohli, where he made shocking statements about why the former India skipper stepped down from his role.
Since February 2023, Chetan Sharma has not been in the BCCI’s scheme of things and has been completely sidelined. On midnight of May 18, Thursday, the former chair of selectors took to his Twitter and dropped an emotional tweet, saying that his life has been really tough and there hasn’t been any hope from the near and dear ones.
“Life has been very tough so far. No hope from your near & dear. Hope Mata Rani bless me…..,” he tweeted.
