Star India pacer Mohammed Shami, who is currently competing in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, representing Bengal, has been in exceptional form in the tournament. The star pacer recently took to social media and talked about his side’s journey into the quarter-final of the SMAT 2024.

It is worth noting that Bengal defeated Chandigarh in the pre-quarter-final of the tournament and successfully made it into the quarter-finals. It was Shami’s all-round performance that propelled Bengal to an emphatic victory.

He played a brilliant cameo for his side towards the back end of the innings, scoring 32* off just 17 deliveries and catching a lot of attention from the fans. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Shami reflected on his side’s campaign in the tournament so far.

“It’s always a proud moment to contribute to the team’s success. Delighted to be a part of Bengal’s journey to the quarter-finals. A big shoutout to all the players and team staff for their incredible efforts. Let’s keep pushing forward together!” Shami tweeted.

We want to be 100 percent sure with Shami: Rohit Sharma

With Shami nearing full fitness, there have been major discussions over his inclusion in the Indian team in Australia for the ongoing BGT 2024-25. The side’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, recently came forward and gave a major update on Shami’s injury situation.

“It obviously hampers his preparation to come and play a Test. We want to be very careful, we don’t want to bring him here in a situation where he plays, and he pulls up sore. We want to be 100 percent sure with him. It has been such a long time that he has not played cricket, and to be fair to him, we don’t want to put pressure on him to come here and do the job for the team.” Rohit Sharma was quoted as saying after the Adelaide Test.
