Their triumph came in a thrilling encounter against Urbanrisers Hyderabad, triumphing by 5 wickets with just six balls to spare. Choosing to field first after winning the toss, Manipal Tigers skipper Harbhajan Singh, exhibited astute leadership, guiding his team tactically.
Urbanrisers Hyderabad faced an early blow as Martin Guptill departed without putting any runs on the board. The challenges escalated with Dwayne Smith’s dismissal at 21 runs, courtesy of Mitchell McClenaghan’s adept bowling. Despite the setbacks, Rikki Clarke’s impressive 80 runs and Gurkeerat Singh’s solid 64 propelled Urbanrisers to a competitive total of 187/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Responding to the target, Manipal Tigers displayed unwavering determination in their chase. Robin Uthappa and Chadwick Walton provided a sturdy start with a partnership worth 71 runs.
